Art of the Deal

He was still negotiating
as he plummeted
Some bargain might still be made,
the broken contract
might still be mended
mid-air.
Unlikely, to be certain.
But as the ground rose up to greet him
he put on his most
accommodating grin
and thrust out his open palm
to shake its hand.
